What is a Scleral Lens?

A scleral lens is a custom, large-diameter rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lens that rests on the sclera (the white part of the eye) and creates a tear-filled vault over the entire cornea (the clear part covering the color part of the eye).

Scleral lenses transform an irregular cornea, providing a smoother optical surface for improved vision, clarity, and comfort. Its design ensures a comfortable experience for the patient by not directly touching the cornea.
